The president made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran on Tuesday where Brazil's new ambassador to Iran Eduardo Ricardo Gradilone Neto presented his credentials.
Referring to the positions shared by Iran and Brazil – as one of the non-permanent members of the UN Security Council – regarding the Palestinian issue, Raisi called on the UN Security Council to give priority to the issue of stopping the Zionist attacks on the people of the Gaza Strip.
The Iranian president also indicated that building broad cooperation with countries in the South American region is a main priority of the Islamic Republic of Iran, calling for further raising the level of relations and the value of trade exchanges between the two countries.
Raisi stressed that the existence of common views between Tehran and Brasilia on bilateral, regional and international issues provides an appropriate ground for enhancement of bilateral coordination.
He also noted the necessity of activating the meetings of the joint economic committee between the two countries and increasing the volume of trade and economic cooperation.
Pointing to the developments in the Gaza Strip, the Iranian president stressed that the continuation of the Zionists’ crimes against the defenseless people of Gaza increases the responsibility of international organizations in this regard.
For his part, the new Brazilian ambassador congratulated Iran's accession to the BRICS bloc of emerging economies, adding that he will continue his efforts during his tenure in Iran to raise the level of relations between Brasilia and Tehran to the highest levels.
